On Friday, 13 September (9:00 AM – 10:30 AM CEST) the Joint Research Centre organises a special session in the frame of the Regional Studies Association (RSA) Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Conference which is held between 11 and 13 September 2024 at the University of Dubrovnik in Croatia.
The special session aims to discuss the main findings coming from the European Commission’s activities fostering S3-driven collaboration networks in the EU enlargement context, underlining the relevance of place-based potentials and the importance of addressing societal challenges. The session will discuss lessons learned from the implementation of the S3 frameworks in the Western Balkans and from the application of mapping methods detecting innovation, scientific and technological potentials. It will also discuss topics closely related to the green and digital transition, with specific regard to smart specialisation’s appropriateness to address sustainability challenges and to foster the development of regional ICT value chains.
