This session marks the official launch of a regional study that explores the evolving dynamics of the start-up ecosystem across the Western Balkans. The presentation will take place during the Ministerial Meeting of the Western Balkans Steering Platform on Research and Innovation in Podgorica. Drawing on extensive data collected from start-up s, innovation-enabling organisations, and venture capital funds, the study offers a comprehensive snapshot of the region’s entrepreneurial landscape including its strengths, challenges, and untapped potential.
Participants will gain first-hand insights into emerging trends shaping innovation, engage with fresh data and regional perspectives on investment behaviour in six WB economies. The findings show how local ecosystems are responding to broader shifts, and where strategic interventions could accelerate growth and resilience.
The presentation will also highlight actionable recommendations aimed at policymakers, investors, and ecosystem builders. The recommendations were designed to support a more vibrant, connected, and sustainable start-up environment in the WB.
This study was co-created by the Regional Cooperation Council, European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and Enterprise Europe Network.
