The Annual Research Conference was set up to bring insights from the latest academic research to the European Commission and to foster dialogue between academic research and policymaking. Each year, the conference covers a topic relevant to evidence-based policy design in the Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the co-organisers of the Annual Research Conference.
The 2025 edition, taking place 28 November 2025, explores how AI and Innovation are reshaping productivity and influencing the future of economic policy.
Highlights include:
- Keynote address by Philippe Aghion, Nobel prize winner in economics 2025
- 16 academic papers
- Policy panel featuring Jeromin Zettelmeyer (Bruegel), Beata Javorcik (EBRD), Maximilian Freier (ECB), and Ashley Feldman (Wayve)
Participants can join in Brussels or online for insights, debate, and forward-thinking policy discussion.
