Fair, Green and Digital Transition in Education and Labour Market Policies – 12th International Stakeholder Conference of EUSDR Priority Area 9 “People & Skills”

The 12th International Stakeholder Conference of the Priority Area “People and Skills” (PA9) of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) will be held on 23 May 2024 in Vienna, Austria on the topic of Fair, Green and Digital Transition in Education and Labour Market Policies.

The international conference discusses challenges and opportunities of a fair, green and digital transition on the labour market and in the field of education in the Danube Region. Participants are invited to bring along questions, ideas, and initiatives. It will assemble key actors in the fields of education and labour market policies from Danube Region countries and beyond in order to share good practice, to address common challenges for the future and to develop innovative projects and networks.

The labour market and education systems in the Danube Region are undergoing profound transformations, shaped by four key factors on which the conference is going to focus:

• The green transition is fundamentally reshaping both education systems and the labour market. Developing green skills is essential for filling green jobs, which are pivotal for fostering a climate-neutral and sustainable Danube Region.
• Digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, are revolutionizing how we work and learn. Adapting to ongoing digitalisation demands acquiring new skills to navigate its challenges and seize its opportunities effectively.
• In this dynamic landscape, ensuring inclusivity is paramount. Given the significant economic and social disparities in the Danube Region, the success of its digital and green transitions hinges on their fairness. Priority should be given to integrating vulnerable groups in the Danube Region.
• Moreover, it is imperative to involve the voices of the youth in shaping the future of a fair, green, and digital Danube Region.

The conference is hosted by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of the Republic of Austria in the framework of the 2024 Austrian Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, with co-funding from the Danube Region Programme.
