The aim of the Monthly POLICY ANSWERS Webinars is to stimulate strategic conversation on Aligning priorities in the Western Balkans with those of the EU across three thematic areas: Digital Transformation, Green Deal and Health Policy.
The speaker of the 12th Webinar is Dr. Luka Filipovic, Assistant Professor and Researcher at the University of Donja Gorica (UDG), Montenegro. He earned his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro. With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Filipović has dedicated his career to advancing the fields of computer science and information technology. Previosly, he worked at the IT Center of the University of Montenegro, where, beginning in 2005, he contributed to projects focussed on digitization and application software development. In 2016, he was appointed Head of the Department for Development and Maintenance of UoM IT center. Throughout his career, Dr. Filipović has participated in numerous international and national research projects, including SEE-GRID-2, VI-SEEM, SEE-GRID-SCI, HP-SEE, EGI Inspire, IANAS, and Euraxess. Since 2021, he has been a member of UDG, actively contributing to projects such as EuroCC2, FoodDecide, AI-AGE, and HPC4S3ME. His research interests include information systems, data science, machine learning, distributed computing, and high-performance computing (HPC), through which he continues to drive innovation in digital transformation and scientific collaboration.
This talk will explore the role of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and e-Infrastructures in Montenegro’s development, with a focus on key past and ongoing initiatives. Effort of the National Competence Centre Montenegro within the EuroCC project will be presented and our activities to foster collaboration across the public sector, academia, and SMEs. The presentation will also showcase successful HPC-driven stories in Montenegro, emphasizing their impact and future potential.
