27 March - 27 May 2026

The EIT Community Hub Albania, in collaboration with Durana Tech Park and 28Digital, co-organized the event “Making Innovation Happen in Albania – Building Digital Partnerships with 28Digital & Durana Tech Park” on 27 March 2026 at Tirana International Hotel.

At this national-level event, the EIT Community Hub Albania presented the mission of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and showcased the activities and opportunities of 28Digital, highlighting how Albanian stakeholders can access European programmes, funding mechanisms, mentorship, and cross-border collaboration in digital innovation.

The event opened with strategic remarks from Florensa Haxhi (CEO, Durana Tech Park), Elira Kokona (CEO, Albanian Investment Corporation – AIC), Delina Ibrahimi (Minister of Economy & Innovation), Armela Baka (Deputy Minister of Education), and Françeska Korançe (EIT Community Officer, EIT Community Hub Albania). Speakers emphasized the importance of public–private collaboration, talent development, and leveraging European innovation platforms to accelerate Albania’s digital transformation and strengthen its role in the European innovation ecosystem.

A central session, “28Digital Mission and Instruments: National Ecosystem Opportunities”, delivered by Tuan Trinh (Regional Director East, 28Digital), highlighted the pathways for startups, researchers, universities, and institutions to access funding, scale innovations internationally, and connect with European networks.

Interactive workshops, facilitated by Antonio García-Hortal, Vilma Djala, Maddalena Buonamico, Gergely Horváth, and Botond Vajda (28Digital experts) and moderated by Krisztián Gál (Ecosystem Lead, 28Digital), provided hands-on guidance on EU project access, academia–industry collaboration, venture growth, and enhancing the visibility of Albanian tech companies. Participants exchanged ideas, received expert feedback, and explored concrete next steps for implementing digital innovation initiatives locally and regionally.

The event strengthened Albania’s digital innovation ecosystem by connecting local stakeholders with European programmes, promoting strategic collaborations, and supporting the country’s integration into broader European innovation and technology networks.
