The Western Balkans Circular Economy Hub, in cooperation with Cradlenet, is organising an online event on 4 February (10:00–11:30 CET) titled “Where Value Is Lost and Found: Closing the Value Gap in Construction”. The event will focus on the opportunities and potential of circular economy solutions in the construction sector.
Based on findings from the Value Gap Report, the construction sector has been identified as the single largest source of value loss in Sweden, accounting for around SEK 600 billion (€57 billion) annually. At the same time, this highlights construction as one of the sectors with the greatest potential for circular transformation.
The event will bring together speakers from across Europe and the Western Balkans to discuss how circular economy approaches can help close this value gap, combining data insights, public-sector leadership, innovation tools and real-life practices.
What to expect:
- Key insights from the Value Gap Report team, including Ann-Charlotte Mellquist (Director Sustainability Analytics, RISE) and Klas Cullbrand (Innovation & Project Manager, RISE)
- A circular success story from Friesland (Netherlands), one of Europe’s frontrunner regions in circular transition, presented by Sander Bos (Project Lead & Strategic Advisor, Circular Economy & European Affairs, Provincie Fryslân)
- Updates from EU-level innovation initiatives supporting circular construction, including the RECONMATIC project
- Best practices from the Western Balkans construction sector, featuring ETRI Solutions and M-akustik
The event is aimed at companies, municipalities, practitioners and policy actors interested in exploring the economic, environmental and social benefits of circular construction. Register here: https://rwth.zoom.us/meeting/register/VvEyVKxYRDiaz9-fjMs1Rw#/registration
