Tthe fifth annual Smart Specialisation Community of Practice (S3 CoP) Conference will take place on 23–24 June 2026 in Brussels. Organised by the European Commission, the event will bring together policymakers, regional authorities, innovation actors and stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the future of Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) and their role in strengthening European competitiveness, cohesion and industrial transformation.
The conference programme will focus on how Smart Specialisation can better support integrated innovation and industrial policy approaches, improve governance and performance, and foster stronger interregional cooperation. The first day will feature a keynote speech by Raffaele Fitto, alongside panel discussions, regional pitches and thematic breakout sessions. The second day will be dedicated to the annual meetings of the S3 Thematic Platforms and Partnerships, as well as activities of the new Learning Communities.
The event will be hosted at Autoworld in Brussels. The discussions are expected to be particularly relevant for stakeholders from the Western Balkans engaged in regional innovation governance, industrial modernisation and participation in European research and innovation cooperation frameworks.
