The workshop “Beyond the Horizon: Joint Foresight Exercise” is organised by the POLICY ANSWERS team on 29 September 2024 at the Hotel DoubleTree Skopje (Rooftop Bar) as a side event to the Ministerial meeting taking place on 30 September and 1 October.
In the first part of the Workshop, participants learn about the benefits and importance of Strategic Foresight and anticipatory decision-making. In a second part, participants themselves use the method of working with trends of the futures until the year 2035. Herein, they experience the implications of these trends on their day-to-day work and life.
The workshop is inspired by an engagement tool which was developed by the Finnish Innovation Fund, Sitra, which is one of the most renown institutions on Strategic Foresight worldwide. The trend cards contain various trends that are already influencing the R&I ecosystems as well as our lives and, as a result, our future. The trend cards cannot be used to predict the future. Instead, using the cards can stimulate and broaden the participants’ thinking and help them come up with new ideas and envision what the future of R&I in the Western Balkans could entail.
